There is an intrinsic value to material that is played with in sculpture work and Catherine’s sculptures may not always be in stone. Her training was clearly contemporary and it was only later as a stone mason that she learned traditional skills. Her concept work is often in the form of sketches, paintings and models, teasing out the essential ideas and feelings of the piece.
Catherine is currently striving to nourish this side of her work, developing works at scale and playing with varying materials and context.
Commissions, collaborations, exhibition spaces, ideas, dialogues, and competitions are always welcome; please do get in touch.
